How We Rebuilt a Community Group Website That Had Been Left Behind

Some projects are a real reminder of why a website needs looking after. This was one of them.

The Rosebud Over 50’s Social Club is a community group on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. They do good work for their members and their local area. But their website wasn’t doing them any favours. It was outdated, hard to use on a phone, and hadn’t been properly updated in years. They came to Wavebreak Technology for a full rebuild.

    What We Were Working With

The old site had a few problems. They tend to go hand in hand when a website gets left unmanaged. Visually, it looked its age. The design hadn’t kept pace with how websites look today. That creates an immediate impression problem. Visitors land on the page and quietly wonder whether the organisation is still active.

It also wasn’t built for mobile. A large proportion of people browse the web on their phone. A site that doesn’t adapt to a smaller screen is a real barrier. Text runs off the edge, buttons are hard to tap, and most people just leave.

On top of that, the content was out of date. Key information was either missing or no longer accurate. There was no process in place for keeping things current. Without someone managing it, the site had simply been left to drift.

    What We Built

The rebuild gave the Club a clean, warm, community-focused website on WordPress. It’s a platform that’s straightforward to update and doesn’t require technical knowledge to maintain. The new site is fully mobile responsive. It works properly on a phone, tablet, or desktop. The content was refreshed and restructured so visitors can quickly find what they need – who the group is, what they do, and how to get involved.

The design reflects the organisation’s character. It’s approachable, easy to read, and gives the group a proper online home.

    A Note on Reach

Wavebreak Technology is based on the Gold Coast. However, website work isn’t limited by location. We worked with the Club entirely remotely. The process was straightforward from start to finish. If you’re a community group or small business anywhere in Australia looking for a website rebuild, we’re happy to have a chat.

    The Result

The Club now has a website that represents them properly. It works on any device, carries accurate information, and gives their community a reliable place to find them online.

Community groups do important work. Having a website that reflects that matters.
