Launching your website is a big milestone, but it’s not the end of the road. Once your site is live, the next chapter begins: keeping it secure, fast, and up to date.
Here’s what small business owners can expect after a website launch, and how to make sure your new site keeps working hard for you.
1. Final Checks and Basic Support
At Wavebreak, we stick around for the early days. After your site goes live, you’ll get a short support window – typically 7 days for boutique websites and 20 days for eCommerce sites. During this time, we’ll help with minor tweaks, check for bugs, and make sure everything’s working as it should.
💡 Tip: This is a good time to double-check your contact forms, payment systems, and mobile experience.
2. Learning to Manage Your Site
We’ll give you a basic run-through on how to manage your site – like adding blog posts, swapping images, or editing text. If you prefer not to do this yourself, that’s totally fine. Many clients hand updates over to us through one of our maintenance plans.
3. Security and Backups
Just like your phone or computer, your website needs regular updates to stay secure. That includes plugin updates, backups, and scanning for dodgy login attempts or malware.
If you’re not sure how to manage this – or don’t have time – it’s worth looking into a support plan. We offer three tiers to suit different levels of need.
4. SEO and Performance Monitoring
Basic SEO is included in your launch, but search engines take time to notice new websites. Post-launch, we can help monitor how your site is performing in search and improve things like speed, mobile usability, and keyword use.
Our Mid and High Tide plans include tools like Yoast SEO to help boost your Google ranking over time.
5. What You’ll Still Need to Do
Even with a new website, you’re not completely hands-off. You’ll still need to:
- Keep your content fresh (Google likes that)
- Monitor emails and enquiries
- Promote your website via socials or ads
- Keep your business details up to date
If you’re on a plan with us, we’ll remind you when it’s time for updates or reviews. That way, you can focus on your business – not the backend.
